Our wedding photographers are really awesome, and right now it's pretty much just the two of them, (they're married) and if they need to do a second wedding on the same date, they subcontract a guy they've been working with for about 10 years... who has been doing wedding photography for about 25 years and used to own his own studio.
Welllll... a few months ago, before I bought my SLR, I emailed Cathy and asked her what she suggested and if the D80 was a good camera. They shoot with Fuji SLRs which are very similar so she said it was a good camera to start with and I bought it.
About 3 weeks ago, we went in for our final consultation prior to the wedding and I was talking to them about my camera and how I wish I knew how to use it well and that it'd be really cool to do wedding photography. They mentioned hiring me as an intern to learn and then eventually when I am trained and have a good portfolio set up, hiring me as a 4th photographer and subcontracting me to shoot weddings, either alone or with the 3rd photographer (or with them)
I didn't really take it too seriously although the idea was pretty exciting, but I never thought they'd follow through with it... until she called me out of the blue today!!
She said she met with a client today, and her and Scott are already booked for this particular date. The Bride wants 2 photographers and since the 3rd guy is the only other guy, they want to get me in to start shooting weddings as an intern and start training right away, as soon as my wedding is over, and then hire me to shoot this girl's wedding! and others!
And the really cool thing? The first wedding that they want me to come along to in September is at Holy Hill, a gorrrrgeous church out here in Wisconsin at the top of a mountain, overlooking a lot of WI
I take that back... my first photo shoot with them is going to be on August 9th at the Zoo... I'm not exactly sure what it's for but they're getting me a ticket to go with!
of work until night time! yay. jeez. please go by fast.
Although we typically post on Team Vox to let you know about things that are going on with Vox (to, uh, state the obvious), once in a while, we like to let you know about other cool things that are happening around the blogosphere. And we think the idea of four hilarious mommy bloggers traveling across the U.S. on their way to the BlogHer '08 conference - all the while blogging and video blogging the journey - is one trip you will not want to miss.
Four adventurous bloggers from the Silicon Valley Moms Group were selected to participate in the Summer Road Trip '08 and blog about their travels, hotel stays, media appearances, time away from their families, and life on the road. Six Apart helped them partner up with General Motors, who provided the blogging mommies with a Chevy Tahoe Hybrid SUV to help make their journey comfy, safe, and a little more green.
In case you're not familiar with them, SV Moms is a group of over 200 bloggers who showcase the ups, downs, outrages, struggles, victories, and everyday humor of motherhood. There are currently nine regional and demographically tailored sites that give mothers from D.C., New Jersey, the Deep South, Rocky Mountains, L.A., and Silicon Valley a powerful voice and sense of camaraderie across the country. Whether you're a mother, a child, or just a person who enjoys a good blog, you'll really love reading the words of these amazing women.
The moms buckled into their Chevy Tahoe Hybrid SUV on July 11th and even got an encouraging message from Katie Couric to kick things off! They are currently somewhere in the middle of America making their way to San Francisco where they'll attend an SV Moms Group Party, as well as BlogHer '08.
You do not want to miss these entertaining and irreverent bloggers -- or their spontaneous contest giveaways! -- as they blog from the road. Experience the journey at MomRoadTrip.com.
And let us know about your summer road trip - or plane/boat/bus trip - in the comments! (I like to live vicariously.)

I went to Oshawa this weekend. I met up with a few of my friends from college Friday night to celebrate Rachel's bday. We went out for expensive dessert in Whitby then went to see Hellboy. I loved Hellboy, just as much as the first one (if not more), though Selma Blair's acting wasn't up to par, and normally I like her.
Saturday I met up with my friend Tully and we went mini putting then went for drinks and just talked most of the day.
Sunday I saw my other friend Crystal and we went to Tim Horton's for tea then wandered around the mall then continued to wander throughout Walmart. Good times.lol.
I forgot to make a payment to my website so it's down until it can be processed (which is hopefully this week).
I'm getting the CD player in my car fixed on Wednesday. YAY! I've been listening to the sucky radio since March. I just have a problem with how I'm going to get my car... I work until 11pm that night. I will have to work something out.
I'm trying to take up learning the guitar. My dad started teaching me tonight, and my fingers are so sore! And I'm having troubles getting some notes. Like "C" is impossible for me to get. Stupid short fingers!
So, to make a long story short, we got the diamonds reset into a band and when I tried it on, it looked HORRIBLE next to my ring. So we were going to get them channel set into another band which would look better, and when we were at the jewelers she told us it would be approx. 100 dollars more (around $1049 total) to reset MY diamonds into a new band. she brought out a band that had the same size diamonds in it, except more of them, and THAT band INCLUDING the diamonds was $999. So I was like, what the hell? let's just buy THIS band, KEEP my diamonds, and then we get a whole bunch more diamonds for LESS money, plus then it includes the lifetime diamond guarantee (if they fall out the replace them for free - my diamonds wouldn't be under that warranty)
so the salesperson checked with her manager, who said yes, we could have a full refund. we went in tonight to buy the band, and the assistant manager took care of us and i tried on about 25 different bands... a LOT of wraps. well, let's just say, as soon as I saw my ring in a wrap, I was smitten. I am a sucker for symmetry so I LOVED it!! Plus it's sooo gorgeous, it totally accentuates my main diamond.
it looks so much better in person, but here are some pics:
